“More importantly he fixed the problem! …Two other electricians… could not resolve it.”
Johnstown has a small historic core along Parish Avenue and a large share of newer homes in subdivisions that have grown up near I-25 and the Ledge Rock Center area. Newer homes usually need added capacity rather than repairs: circuits for EV chargers, basement finishes and hot tubs, or a panel upgrade when the builder panel is full. Older homes downtown can need grounding updates and GFCI protection.
Inside town limits, electrical permits come from the Town of Johnstown Building Department. Outside town limits, Larimer County or Weld County issues permits, depending on the address. We pull the required permits and schedule inspections with your local building department.
Johnstown is served by three electric utilities depending on location: Xcel Energy in central Johnstown, United Power in Pioneer Ridge and southern areas, and Poudre Valley REA north of County Road 48½ and west of I-25, per the Town. Johnstown also spans Larimer and Weld counties. We confirm your utility for your address and coordinate with them when the job needs a disconnect or reconnect. See generators.

Every visit includes the repair, installation or service you called us for, plus the $89 Eggers Safety Inspection: a licensed electrician diagnoses the problem and does our 8-point Eggers Safety Inspection (not a city permit inspection): we verify grounding and bonding, spot-check outlets and switches, and visually check the panel, GFCI protection, smoke and CO alarms, visible wiring, exterior electrical and whole-home surge protection. You get a written price before work starts, and the $89 is credited toward your job when you go ahead. Call 7 days, 7am–8pm; office hours are Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4pm.
Johnstown is mostly newer subdivisions, with some older homes near the original town center, so we see a lot of EV chargers, basement finishes and added circuits.
A load calculation tells us. It may show you can add a charger as is, with a load-management device, or with a charger set to a lower current. A subpanel adds breaker space, but not more total power.
Common signs are frequent tripping, no open breaker spaces, an old fuse box, double-tapped breakers, or plans for an EV charger, heat pump or hot tub. A load calculation confirms it, and replacing service equipment now requires a surge protector.
Yes. Finishing a basement needs a permit, and the job typically includes smoke alarms, plus CO alarms where required, for example if you have gas appliances or an attached garage. We also check that your panel has room for the new circuits.
Often a tripped GFCI upstream. One GFCI outlet can protect several outlets downstream of it, so check the GFCIs in bathrooms, the kitchen, the garage and outdoors before calling.
A breaker trips to protect the wiring from an overloaded circuit, a short circuit or a ground fault. Unplug a few things and reset it once. If it trips again right away, trips with nothing plugged in, or you notice heat or a burning smell, stop resetting it and call a licensed electrician.

“Justin and his team did an outstanding job with the electrical work in our home. They installed a fan box and updated the switch so everything works exactly how we wanted. They also managed to safely hang a large chandelier about 20 feet up in our entryway, which looks fantastic. The crew was very professional, friendly, and easy to communicate with throughout the whole process.…”
“Andy came to our house to add an electrical outlet. While looking at possible solutions he was able to find us a solution that was half the price of the first solution he came up with…”Google review · Loveland · Dec 2025 Wiring, outlets & upgrades
