“…they are remarkably responsive to questions and needs during a project.”
Your electrical panel sends power to every circuit in your home. If you notice any of these, it’s time for a professional look.
Circuits that keep tripping can mean the panel is overloaded.
A brief dim when a big motor starts (AC, dryer) can be normal. Call us if lights dim a lot or for a long time, flicker with nothing starting up, some lights get brighter while others dim (possible loose neutral, which is urgent), or you notice warm or buzzing outlets or a burning smell.
Heat, buzzing, a burning smell or scorch marks need a look right away.
Many older homes were never built for today’s electrical load.
An EV charger, heat pump, hot tub, remodel or addition may need more capacity.
Some panels, like Federal Pacific and Zinsco, have known safety concerns.
An 8-point electrical safety check plus your detailed estimate. The $89 is credited toward your job if you move forward. It’s only due if you decide not to go ahead.
The 8 points: electrical panel, main grounding & bonding, GFCI protection, smoke & CO detectors, outlets & switches, visible wiring, exterior electrical, and whole-home surge protection. Each one is marked Pass or Needs Attention.

How we decide whether you need a new panel, a service upgrade or neither, and what the permit and utility steps look like.
Yes. A load calculation adds up what your home actually uses and plans to add, like an EV charger, heat pump or hot tub. It tells us whether your current service has room, whether a load-management device would work, or whether a service upgrade is the right call. It keeps you from paying for capacity you don’t need.
A subpanel adds breaker space but not more total power. It’s a good fit when your panel is full but your service still has room, such as for a garage, workshop or basement finish.
A double-tapped breaker has two wires under a terminal made for one. It’s a common finding in older and crowded panels and is corrected during panel service or an upgrade. Panel work is never a do-it-yourself job.
In Northern Colorado, your city or county building department issues electrical permits and does the inspections. That includes Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor, Larimer County and Weld County. When you hire an electrician, the contractor pulls the permit, not you.
When the service size changes, the utility reviews the service and handles the disconnect and reconnect. In Loveland, Loveland Water and Power requires its Electric Service Worksheet before the City issues the permit. We handle that paperwork.
A surge protector is now required when a home’s service equipment is replaced, which covers most panel upgrades. See surge protection and grounding.
“I called them early this morning, and within a couple of hours Chris was here to figure out why one circuit kept kicking the breaker. Turns out it was a floor outlet that had been cooking for a while. We had no clue.…”
