“…they are remarkably responsive to questions and needs during a project.”
Severance went from a very small town to a growing one in a short time, so most homes are recent builds in subdivisions spreading out from the old town center. In those houses the panel is usually in good shape but full. Owners call when they want to add a garage charger, a hot tub, a finished basement or a shop circuit and find no open spaces. Homes on larger lots outside the subdivisions bring longer runs to detached garages and sheds, which have to be sized for voltage drop. See panel upgrade.
Severance is in Weld County. Inside town limits, electrical permits go through the Town of Severance, and Weld County handles unincorporated addresses. We pull the permit and are there for the inspections.
Severance is served by Xcel Energy or Poudre Valley REA, depending on where in or around town you live. We confirm it for your address and set up the disconnect and reconnect when a service upgrade or meter change needs one.
Besides full panels, the most common Severance jobs are 240-volt circuits for EV chargers and hot tubs, subpanels for detached garages and shops, exterior and security lighting, and portable generator hookups with an inlet and a transfer switch or listed interlock so the furnace can run during an outage. See generators.
We cover Severance and nearby Windsor, Timnath, Greeley and Fort Collins.

Every visit includes the repair, installation or service you called us for, plus the $89 Eggers Safety Inspection: a licensed electrician diagnoses the problem and does our 8-point Eggers Safety Inspection (not a city permit inspection): we verify grounding and bonding, spot-check outlets and switches, and visually check the panel, GFCI protection, smoke and CO alarms, visible wiring, exterior electrical and whole-home surge protection. You get a written price before work starts, and the $89 is credited toward your job when you go ahead. Call 7 days, 7am–8pm; office hours are Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4pm.
Severance is mostly newer subdivisions, with some older homes near the original town center. We wire basement finishes, EV chargers, hot tubs and added circuits there.
A load calculation tells us. It may show you can add a charger as is, with a load-management device, or with a charger set to a lower current. A subpanel adds breaker space, but not more total power.
Yes. Finishing a basement needs a permit, and the job typically includes smoke alarms, plus CO alarms where required, for example if you have gas appliances or an attached garage. We also check that your panel has room for the new circuits.
Common signs are frequent tripping, no open breaker spaces, an old fuse box, double-tapped breakers, or plans for an EV charger, heat pump or hot tub. A load calculation confirms it, and replacing service equipment now requires a surge protector.
Only small plug-and-play tubs made for a 120-volt GFCI outlet can plug in, and never through an extension cord. Most full-size tubs need a dedicated, hardwired 240-volt GFCI-protected circuit.
A breaker trips to protect the wiring from an overloaded circuit, a short circuit or a ground fault. Unplug a few things and reset it once. If it trips again right away, trips with nothing plugged in, or you notice heat or a burning smell, stop resetting it and call a licensed electrician.

“Andy came to our house to add an electrical outlet. While looking at possible solutions he was able to find us a solution that was half the price of the first solution he came up with. It was great that he was willing to give us a cheaper solution to choose from. He was kind and very professional.”
