An 8-point electrical safety check plus your detailed estimate. The $89 is credited toward your job if you move forward. It’s only due if you decide not to go ahead.

The 8 points: electrical panel, main grounding & bonding, GFCI protection, smoke & CO detectors, outlets & switches, visible wiring, exterior electrical, and whole-home surge protection. Each one is marked Pass or Needs Attention.

Are LED recessed lights worth it?

For most homes, yes. LED lighting uses far less energy and lasts many times longer than incandescent bulbs. The U.S. Department of Energy says up to 25 times longer, so recessed LEDs cut both the power bill and bulb changes.

How many recessed lights do I need?

It depends on ceiling height, the room and the light output of the fixtures. A common rule of thumb is spacing recessed lights about half the ceiling height apart; we lay out the room with you before cutting.

Can you add recessed lights to an insulated ceiling?

Yes. In an insulated ceiling, recessed fixtures must be IC-rated and airtight. Many modern LED recessed lights are both, but we check the label on every fixture and the space above before we cut.

Can you replace fluorescent kitchen lights with LED?

Yes. We remove old fluorescent fixtures and install LED fixtures or recessed lights, and we plan the ceiling patching at the estimate visit.

Can you add under-cabinet lighting?

Yes, hardwired under-cabinet lights on a switch or dimmer, with the wiring hidden in the cabinets or walls where possible.

Why do my LED lights flicker?

An older dimmer made for incandescent bulbs is the most common cause; an LED-compatible dimmer usually fixes it. If flicker affects several lights or comes with buzzing or a burning smell, call us. It can be a loose connection. See switches and dimmers.

How much does indoor lighting installation cost?

Every visit includes the repair, installation or service you called us for, plus the $89 Eggers Safety Inspection; you get a written price before work starts, and the $89 is credited toward the job when you go ahead.

Do I need a permit for new indoor lighting?

New lighting circuits and new fixture locations need a permit and inspection. Simple fixture swaps on an existing circuit often don’t, but we’ll tell you before we start.
